Open frame or equipment frame containers are used to transport and protect valuable technology. We manufacture and supply custom built open frame equipment containers for clients across the world. Green Fuels Ltd is one such client. Its a biofuels manufacturer based primarily in Gloucestershire. It is currently expanding into producing marine fuel, aviation fuel and renewable energy.

Open frame containers are ancillary to;

  • Engines
  • Generators
  • Compressors
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Pumping systems
  • Cooling systems
  • Radiator matrix
  • Radar weather stations

Open frame build process

We typically start with an equipment frame specification. As the client you would usually provide us with a technical drawing. It covers all dimensions and spacings in detail. CAD drawings are the most common. This is something we also provide, should you be unable to produce the spec yourself. Once we have your approval and the drawings are signed off, we move to the build phase.

Open frame containers are manufactured by our precision engineers, this is our speciality. ISO standard open frame containers come in various default sizes. Typical open frame container sizes are 20ft or 40ft. However, we supply larger or smaller builds on demand. All frames are CSC approved and come with CSC plates fitted.

What is a CSC Plate?

In the 1972, The International Maritime Organisation and United Nations established The International Convention for Safe Containers (CSC). It had two main purposes. Protect human life and facilitate the transport of containers internationally. Shipping containers must adhere to standardised safety, dimensions and strength specifications. The new uniformed inspection process ensured the safe transportation of containers on land and at sea.

About Green Fuels Ltd

Green Fuels Ltd was formed by James Hygate in 2003. James, who is a zoologist by trade, wanted to stop using petrol stations. The project started as a hobby in his parents garage. It has since grown into a multi-million pound global business.

Waste-derived biodiesel is one of the most carbon-efficient fuels available. Green Fuels Ltd estimates it has prevented 6.5 million tonnes of CO2 (carbon) emissions since 2003. The company produces 420 million litres of biofuel annually and operates in over 80 countries. Some of its clients include John Lewis & Partners, the Dubai government and the British royal family.

Says James Hygate;

When the company started, it was about wanting to make a difference with my own behaviour, but it became increasingly clear that – with what fossil fuels are doing to the planet – you have to make a disproportionate difference.

As a company, we have an obligation to make as big a difference as we can, and that’s driving our future plans. We see an opportunity to really grow as a business, using what we’ve learnt over the last few years. It’s been genuinely really enlightening being part of Unreasonable Impact and working with Barclays and Unreasonable Group because when we’re on this mission it’s great to meet other people who have the same views.
