New Staff Space Completed for Roberts Recycling

Roberts Recycling Modular Canteen

Repurposed shipping containers transformed into a bright, sustainable breakout space for the Roberts Recycling team

As Roberts Recycling continues to grow, the need for a dedicated staff area became increasingly important. The brief was to create a space where employees could step away from the working environment, enjoy their breaks and have somewhere comfortable to relax and recharge during the working day.

Using four 20ft shipping containers, our team designed and manufactured a spacious modular building that combines practicality with a welcoming interior.

Natural light was a key consideration throughout the design. Carefully positioned windows help create a bright and open environment, while comfortable seating and cooking facilities provide everything staff need to enjoy their breaks.

The finished facility demonstrates how shipping containers can be transformed into high-quality working environments that are a significant step beyond a conventional welfare or canteen facility.

Sustainability at the Heart of the Build

Sustainability was an important part of the project from the very beginning, making the partnership with Roberts Recycling particularly fitting.

The project makes use of repurposed shipping containers, giving existing steel structures a new purpose rather than allowing them to go to waste. By converting and upgrading the containers, we were able to create a completely new building while retaining the benefits of modular construction.

Where additional insulation was required, the building also incorporated material produced on site by Roberts Recycling from recycled textiles that were no longer suitable for rewear.

This created an innovative connection between the building and Roberts Recycling’s own recycling operations. Materials that might otherwise have had limited use were given a new purpose within the building itself.

The result is a practical example of how container conversion, recycled materials and sustainable design can work together to create a modern staff facility.

Manufactured for the Customer’s Requirements

One of the key benefits of working with Inbox Projects is the ability to manufacture bespoke modular buildings around the customer’s exact requirements.

Rather than adapting a standard building to fit the available space, the Roberts Recycling facility was designed around how the team would actually use it.

From the configuration of the four containers and internal layout through to the windows, insulation, seating and cooking facilities, each element was considered as part of the overall user experience.

Our manufacturing approach allows us to take a concept from the initial design stage through fabrication, fit-out and delivery, providing customers with a complete modular solution.

The Future of Modular Buildings

The Roberts Recycling project demonstrates what is possible when shipping containers are viewed as more than simply units for transporting goods.

With the right design and manufacturing expertise, they can become canteens, offices, welfare facilities, cafés, restaurants, classrooms and bespoke commercial spaces.
